Instructional Design Review

The Johns Hopkins University Instructional Design Review evaluated the quality and rigor of our tutoring program’s design, curriculum, and delivery model. The review examined program design, content selection, evaluation methods, and the user experience for educators and students.

Findings confirmed a strong, evidence-based framework:

  • Clear program design and logic model aligned with high-dosage tutoring best practices.

  • Curriculum aligned to national and state standards (CCSS, TEKS, Next Gen), with structured pacing for learner success.

  • Progress monitoring and data dashboards to provide timely, actionable insights for teachers and administrators.

  • Culturally relevant, student-centered instructional approaches, guided by current and former educators.

Relevance to English Learners

Culturally responsive instruction that connects with diverse learners.

Bilingual tutor support and proficiency screeners to address language development alongside academic growth.

Actionable data dashboards that help educators track EL progress across language domains and academic subjects.

Design Review

The Design Review rubric includes thirteen evaluative criteria organized into four broad categories.

For each category, a rating of Limited (⭐), Moderate (⭐⭐), or Strong (⭐⭐⭐) is assigned based upon a review of programmatic materials and correspondence with program leadership.
